28 May – 5 June 2025
Child Protection Week is a national campaign that highlights the urgent need to protect children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. At Badisa Tygerberg, we believe that every child reflects God’s image—deserving of love, dignity, and the chance to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment.
Sadly, many children across South Africa still live in conditions that threaten their well-being and future. Child Protection Week serves as a powerful reminder that protecting children is not just a legal obligation—it’s a moral and social responsibility shared by everyone.
Why Child Protection Week Matters
This week isn’t just for children. It’s also a time to educate parents, caregivers, teachers, and the broader community about:
- Children’s rights
- How to spot the signs of abuse and neglect
- Where and how to report child protection concerns
When communities are informed and united, children are safer.
The Poppie Project: Every Doll Tells a Story
A central part of this year’s campaign was the Poppie Project—our awareness and fundraising initiative. Each handmade Poppie doll represents a child who has faced adversity and found hope and protection through Badisa’s work.
Supporters could purchase Poppie stickers and wristbands to wear during the campaign as a symbol of solidarity. Their support helps us continue the vital work of protecting children and giving them a voice.
What We Achieved in 2025
Child Protection Week 2025 was a tremendous success. Here’s what we accomplished:
✅ Visited eight schools to educate learners about their rights, bullying, and how to stay safe
✅ Held community outreach events at Parow Centre and Panorama Hospital
✅ Reached more than 2,000 children and adults across our service area
Every engagement made a difference. Every child reached is a step closer to a safer future.
A Heartfelt Thank You
We are deeply grateful to every individual and business who supported us by purchasing Poppie merchandise and helping us spread the message. Your involvement brings real change to vulnerable children and their families.
Join Us in Protecting Our Future
Child Protection Week may be over, but the work continues. Badisa Tygerberg calls on everyone—individuals, communities, businesses, and government—to stand with us.
👧 Our children are our future.
💪 It’s up to all of us to invest in them.
💙 Let’s work together to build a safer, more hopeful tomorrow.
